Sarah Palin's Insurance

This is going to be a very short diary. It's basically a question. It may be an ignorant one, but I'm really curious.

Sarah Palin and her husband are not employed at the moment. They also have a special needs child. When their Cobra runs out, are they eligible for insurance in Alaska? Or is someone in her situation generally rejected due to "preexisting conditions"?

I have a hunch that she'll get insurance no matter what. There's no way they'll deny her insurance. But would she be able to purchase insurance if she were not a public figure? There must be other Alaskans in exactly the same situation. Are they able to buy insurance out of their pockets?

Did anybody ever ask those questions to her?

Edit: So my question is answered. Thank you guys. Todd Palin (to my surprise) has a job. He is in fact a union member, so they have insurance. Plus, they qualify for government insurance because Todd is of Native American heritage.

I still wonder, however, if this woman ever answered a question, on record, about mothers of special needs children, who are ineligible for insurance.
